A couple of days ago I wrote a post saying that I was going to start writing shorter, more focused posts. And it seems to have worked — I’ve been able to write every couple of days.
At the moment I’m trying to find a style of writing that I like. That’s more complicated than it sounds. It encompasses everything from how I tell a story, to the words and grammar that I use.
One thing I’ve noticed that I should spent more time on are my post titles — at the moment they aren’t very ‘attractive’ e.g. there’s no bait to click on it and find out what it’s about. I did this purposefully as I was tired of the ‘clickbait’ online, ‘5 ways to tell if you’re a good data scientist’ etc. So over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to try and find a happy medium and come up with better titles than ‘Thoughts on coronavirus’.
So to summarise, for myself more than anyone, some goals of mine over the next couple of weeks while I have slightly more time to focus on writing:
- Continue to try and develop a recognisable style and approach
- Try and improve storytelling, using real life as examples
- Come up with better post titles, that invite curiosity
- Post every couple of days
